B. INTERPRETATION
The
Interpretation of the Song “BE THE LIGHT”:
This song is about a person, in this
content the writer of this song, who encourages other people to be able to move
forward from the obstacles of life. Described in this song is, keep strong to
overcome the disaster caused by the nature.
The
happy days were just like yesterday and after that the disaster came out of nowhere,
destroyed their hometown. They refers to the people who lived on that area,
asked God about their faults which eventually make Him punished them as they
were. The people can’t move forward, even though that disaster already passed
for quite a long time. They couldn’t endure the merciless memories, and pain. There
are people who closed their eyes, as if nothing was wrong. But actually, they
were hurt deep down inside. The writer told them to open their eyes and even
though the world was pitch black, don’t ever stop to look for the shred of
light.
The
disaster left only painful memories, and took away everything, washed up into
pieces. Those people who came back alive from the disaster were personified as
people who came back from hell. The image of hell, where so many lives were
lost along with it, was a thing nobody could ever forget. But then, they have
and must realize that whatever happen, wherever they go, the time won’t stop so
they have to keep moving forward. Recovery may be long, but with a brave heart
to stay strong and keep moving on, they tend to overcome all those darkness
with their head held high up.

Night means
the end of the day, and nighttime is always described with dark. Changing
yesterday’s night into light means, we should turn all bad and sad thing which
had happened yesterday into light and happiness for the day after, and continuously
towards the next days for the rest of our life. “Be the light” means become a light, the source of hope toward every
darkness, sadness, and tears in life which will give happiness to others.
The last part is a poem (not a ‘sing
able’ lyric) of the song which mainly is a message that tell us to choose what
to do for the day after. Either it will be a happy day, or a day which will just
pass by. With that hope and determination, let’s make tomorrow a brighter and
better day.
